Since birth, X4 has stood on business. Raised on 42nd Street and Menlo in the Rollin 40s neighborhood of Southern Los Angeles, the rising California rapper grew up in the trenches, getting a tough mentality instilled into him by his family.

Despite protests from his older siblings and cousins, X4 thought he was resigned to the street life. But in 2016, at 16 years old, he stumbled upon a natural talent for rapping, dropping a couple of songs on SoundCloud at the behest of his friends. Singles such as “Deuce Deuce,” “P90,” and his “TINYLOC” series of freestyles began to get his name out there, sparking over 2.5 Million streams. Though he had troubles with the law soon after, he got out of jail last year with a renewed purpose and a son to take care of, deciding that it was time to lock in and stay out of trouble.

“I’ve seen people get paid and change their whole lives,” X4 says. “I already mastered the streets, I’m already the face of my hood, everybody knows what’s up with me, I have no point to prove. So the only thing left to do is change my life.”

And since that realization, the 23-year-old has risen to the ranks of the hottest young rapper coming out of the West Coast, going viral for his candid interviews and street anthems. Tracks such as “Mr. Clean”, “Pop It”, and “Loose Leaf” have generated Millions of views across Youtube, Instagram, and TikTok, making X4 a hot commodity. Collaborations with the likes of West Coast rap heroes like Ralfy The Plug (“Buster Or Felon”), Fenix Flexin (“Shit Talkin”), and Remble (“Not Regular”) means he’s got the respect of LA’s best.

And now, backed by his brand new deal with Geffen, the rising star drops off his debut mixtape The Most Important, packed with detailed storytelling and slick rhymes that highlight his day-to-day life as one of LA’s finest. The 7-track mixtape, crafted entirely by his close friend and producer FBEAT (known for his work with Blueface, Fenix Flexin, and 1takejay), acts as an introduction to anyone who’s foolishly still sleeping on X4, packed with sly flexes, thoughtful confessions, and trunk-rattling hits to keep the streets hot this winter.

The mixtape comes with plenty of highlights, including another certified street classic “MASERATI TRUCC” with fellow rising rapper Remble, where the duo meet their opps with a dismissive shrug, trading smooth flexes over FBEAT’s pulsating 808s and sleek keys. Then, he gets the co-sign of a legend on “Big Dog Status,” where X4 dog walks his doubters with tact and precision, allowing for the West Coast Crooning icon 03 Greedo to add his signature silky harmony to the hard-hitting cut.

X4’s story is of someone put into a rough upbringing but grinding to use his talents to change his situation. It’s a story any young kid from the hood can find inspiration from, a beacon of hope regardless of your circumstances, especially if you’re from LA.

“I'm making important music that’s based around my city.,” X4 asserts. “I'm focused on making LA go up and bringing up as many LA artists as possible. So if you care about LA and want to see artists from here boom, then shit, you should care about me because I'm going to be the one that's going to put the city on the map.”

The Most Important reflects his hustle, showcasing a burgeoning young star who’s on the precipice of making sure it’s not just the West Coast that knows his name.
